Although I was looking for a job in Financial Services, it was very clear to me that I wanted a broad role in a small but expanding company. Not the easiest of combinations to find in that sector. The larger recruitment agencies were not interested. Unless you can be pigeonholed into a specific role for one of the large corporations that they service, you are frankly, too much trouble. As an out of the box candidate looking for an interesting assignment, Robert Draper really did excel himself in putting me forward to a company in a sector that I had no experience of and to top it off on an Island (not the Caribbean I may add!) The client was going through a difficult turnaround phase and had to find cover for the departing FD. The initial short assignment was to prepare 3 months of accounts which I completed ahead of schedule and started to look into other matters with the MD. After offering advice on how to tackle the various complex issues the MD realised that my skills and experience were exactly what he needed.
